If you look around, you’ll see Latin everywhere. It’s on your money (“E Pluribus Unum”), it’s in the courts (“amicus curiae” briefings), you use Latin abbreviations when you’re writing (“dogs, cats, gerbils, capyberas, etc”). It might even be there on that old TV that you’re watching if you’ve got a Magnavox. You just can’t get away from it.
Latin is the perfect language for kids to learn at home. Ms. Mitchell teaches you Latin from the dictionary.
Latin is probably the easiest of the older languages for speakers of English to learn, both because of their earlier relationship and because of the long use of Latin as the language of educational, ecclesiastical, legal and political affairs in western culture.
